WEIGHT LOSS

Losing weight without dieting is the only way to maintain weight loss

The relationship we have with food can often be a complex and unrewarding one. This is frustrating as food can have such a positive effect on our lives: what we chose to eat and how much we consume effects not just our physical body but our mind as well.

Most people at some point of their lives will want to lose weight. For some it is easy but for the majority losing weight and the habits that go with maintaining an ideal weight can be a constant struggle.

Assuming the weight gained is not from an underlying medical issue, most of us put on weight due to negative patterns of association involving specific foods or food generally.
This can stem from childhood and/or come about at any point in our lives from negative and positive experiences associated with the feelings and thoughts that come with food. This is often unconscious: we are ordinarily not aware that we have these patterns of association.

Instead of listening to our appetite and our body as a whole we ‘learn’ to ignore our body and overeat, or, not eat enough. This encourages our metabolic rate to slow down, forcing our body to store more of the food we eat as fat as our body is not certain when it will eat next. This occurs when we diet, often starving ourselves to lose weight quickly. Unfortunately this can’t be sustained and when we return to our old patterns of eating, we discover we put more weight on..

Eating in response to emotions is also a familiar pattern to many. Eating when depressed, frustrated, angry tired or disappointed is an attempt to satisfy an emotional need which will never be gratified with food alone. Food can become a substitute for something that we feel is missing from our lives.

Using Clinical hypnosis and specific NLP techniques, I teach new ways of dealing with emotions and enable you to become more conscious of current eating patterns and habits. In turn, new patterns are developed which replace the old. By doing this you find it easier to reframe the old patterns, emotions and habits which have generated a negative relationship with food.

As with all of my sessions, I don’t plan what exact techniques I will use as everyone is unique with different needs. Appreciating this and identifying a range of techniques that will work is paramount in maintaining the goals and ambitions distinctive to each person.

Reframing and constructing new patterns around weight loss is done within one 2 hour session. A follow up session is arranged a couple of weeks after to ensure everything is running efficiently with as little effort as possible.

Don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss how I can help you with any of the issues discussed above. I am always happy to chat.
